SUMMARY:Camp Ambassador Training
DESCRIPTION:We are looking to expand the Treasure Valley Camp Ambassador Corps and we need you! \nWHAT IS THE CAMP AMBASSADOR CORPS? \nThe camp ambassador corps is a group of trained\, registered Scouters who serve at council weekend camps whenever Scouting units are using any part of the camp property. Campmasters select their own time and frequency of service\, but they usually serve two times a year. The group is organized under the leadership of the council camping committee. Members of the corps are managed by the Camp Ambassador Corps Director\, John McMillen. \nCamp Ambassadors will stay in King Cottage and be ready to check in units by 6pm on Friday nights. Once each unit is checked in\, your time is your own in camp unless you are needed. On Sunday\, check out should be be completed by 11am. King Cottage has a full kitchen\, living room\, bedroom and bathroom. You must provide your own bedding\, towels and food for the weekend. \nIf you love Treasure Valley and meeting new people\, this is the volunteer position for you! \nWhere:  Treasure Valley  – King Cottage & Training Lodge \nFor any questions\, please reach out to John McMillen at the email below. \nUpdated 8/17/2026

SUMMARY:IOLS - Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills
DESCRIPTION:Where: Treasure Valley Scout Reservation \nCost: $35 \nThis hands-on program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out- of-doors. In addition\, the teaching methods\, activities\, and games model the variety of teaching used in effective and engaging Scouting programs. \nHands-on participation is the best learning tool\, and this course models the techniques used by effective Scoutmasters\, advisors\, and other leaders in the Scouting program. \nAttendees will see and experience different aspects of how Scouting works while playing the role of Scouts in a troop. \nParticipants should leave the training experience with a full understanding of how the patrol method operates\, a feeling of comfort in working with and instructing their Scouts\, and an increased level of confidence taking Scouts outdoors safely. With that comes great satisfaction. \nMust be present for the entire event to complete training. \nParticipants will be responsible for their own personal gear including tent. \nMeals will be provided \nPlease contact Ed King if you have any specific questions about the program – ed.king@hnescouting.org \nUpdated 8/5/2026
