SUMMARY:IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills)
DESCRIPTION:Where: Treasure Valley Scout Reservation \nCost: $35 \nThis hands-on program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out- of-doors. In addition\, the teaching methods\, activities\, and games model the variety of teaching used in effective and engaging Scouting programs. \nHands-on participation is the best learning tool\, and this course models the techniques used by effective Scoutmasters\, advisors\, and other leaders in the Scouting program. Attendees will see and\nexperience different aspects of how Scouting works while playing the role of Scouts in a troop. \nParticipants should leave the training experience with a full understanding of how the patrol method operates\, a feeling of comfort in working with and instructing their Scouts\, and an increased level of confidence taking Scouts outdoors safely. DESCRIPTION:Cost: $30-$60 \nCurrent Members \nWith spring fast approaching\, it is time once again to get together in the spirit of cheerful service and fellowship while we welcome new members to the lodge. If you plan to attend and have not yet paid your dues for 2027\, please choose the current member ticket option for $50. \nOrdeal Candidates \nCongratulations! You have been elected as a candidate for membership into the Order of the Arrow! \nIn most organizations\, those who are already a part of the group select new members. However\, in the OA\, your peers\, many of whom are not OA members\, selected you. They saw a quality inside of you that you might not be aware of\, and they have faith in you and how you live the Scout Oath and Law. \nAbout Ordeal Weekends \nThis is just the first step in a journey that will last a lifetime. Your next step is to attend what is called an Ordeal\, the induction experience for the Order of the Arrow. At the Ordeal weekend\, you will have a chance to prove your courage and self-reliance; listen to your inner thoughts; serve your fellow human cheerfully; and prove your ability to live the Scout Oath and Law. \nThe Order is shrouded in mystery. We closely safeguard our ceremonies and traditions. This does not mean that you cannot talk to your parents about what happens. In fact\, we encourage it\, as it will help you to gain a better understanding. We do\, however\, ask that you not discuss it with your friends who might become members themselves one day. You would ruin the experience for them. \nYou will have a number of chances to complete your Ordeal. The lodge holds Induction Weekends in the spring and fall of each year. You must attend one of these weekends within 18 months of being notified of your election. Otherwise\, you will need to be re-elected\, or need to get an extension. Walker and recognizes all recently departed members of our Scouting community. \nIt’s a time to remember the Scouts and volunteers we’ve lost in the past year. All units from the Heart of New England Council are invited to attend with a color guard. \nWHERE: Walnut Grove Cemetary\, Elm St.\, North Brookfield\nWHEN: Saturday\, June 5th\, 2027  – 5:45PM Arrival / 6:00PM Ceremony / Cracker Barrel to follow \nWe’re encouraging all Scout leaders to bring your entire unit this year. SUMMARY:NYLT - National Youth Leadership Course
DESCRIPTION:*This course has a maximum capacity set by the Scouting America NYLT Course Syllabus \nPlease note: Registration is to be completed by unit leaders only and participants must be 17 years old or under.  \nWhat: National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an action-packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their troops\, crews\, or ships. It’s a hands on\, how to\, course delivered in a unit and patrol centered\, outdoor setting. \nWho: All participants must be a registered member of a Scouting unit. \nScouts BSA: must be at least 13 and hold the rank of First Class. They must have completed “Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops”. \nVenturers and Sea Scouts: must be at least 14\, or 13 and have completed eighth grade\, and fall within the maximum age allowance for their program. They must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews or Ships. DESCRIPTION:Current Members\nWith fall fast approaching\, it is time once again to get together in the spirit of cheerful service and fellowship while we welcome new members to the lodge. Your registration for the event includes lodge dues for the upcoming year. \nOrdeal Candidates\nCongratulations! You have been elected as a candidate for membership into the Order of the Arrow!\nIn most organizations\, those who are already a part of the group select new members. However\, in the OA\, your peers\, many of whom are not OA members\, selected you. They saw a quality inside of you that you might not be aware of\, and they have faith in you and how you live the Scout Oath and Law. \nAbout Ordeal Weekends\nThis is just the first step in a journey that will last a lifetime. Your next step is to attend what is called an Ordeal\, the induction experience for the Order of the Arrow. At the Ordeal weekend\, you will have a chance to prove your courage and self-reliance; listen to your inner thoughts; serve your fellow human cheerfully; and prove your ability to live the Scout Oath and Law. \nThe Order is shrouded in mystery. We closely safeguard our ceremonies and traditions. This does not mean that you cannot talk to your parents about what happens. In fact\, we encourage it\, as it will help you to gain a better understanding. We do\, however\, ask that you not discuss it with your friends who might become members themselves one day. You would ruin the experience for them. \nYou will have a number of chances to complete your Ordeal. The lodge holds Induction Weekends in the spring and fall of each year. You must attend one of these weekends within 24 months (2 year) of being notified of your election. Otherwise\, you will need to be re-elected\, or need to get an extension.
